July 31st

Travel to Molecular Plant Sciences Building (MPS) Room 1200

Travel options:

1. CATA bus route 25, fare provided. Departs 7:50 am from the stop across the street
from the Kellogg Center (#177). Arrives at 8:15 am at the stop just north of the
intersection of Farm Lane and Wilson Road. (NOTE: The next bus isn’t until 8:50 am, so
don’t miss this one!)

2. Walk. Molecular Plant Sciences is about 1.5 miles away from Kellogg Center on the
corner of Wilson Rd. and Bogue St. The address is 1066 Bogue St., but it will be easier
to enter the building from Wilson Rd.

3. Spin Electric Scooters. On your own for fees. Must download the app. Cost is $1 base
fee per ride, plus a per-minute fee. Charges are made in $10 increments.

Tour plant science facilities, split into five groups. Plant Science Research Greenhouses, Plant Biology Conservatory, Growth Chamber Facility, Herbarium, Horticulture Gardens, Plant Diagnostic Lab.

12pm – 1:30pm
Lunch, MPS Room 1200 (feel free to eat lunch in room 1200, the atrium, or in the gardens)

1:30pm – 3pm
Presentations, MPS Room 1200 Roberto Lopez – What to expect from LEDs Mary Hausbeck – Tips for breaking up with greenhouse pathogens Jeremy Jubenville – Enhancing greenhouse insect control in the Michigan floriculture industry 3:30 pm – 5:00 pm Walk to W.J. Beal Botanical Garden for tour and presentation Maeve Bassett – Plants and People: Exploring ethnobotany in public gardens 5:00 pm Dinner on your own. Several restaurants are within walking distance of Beal (list of recommended restaurants at the end). Then it’s just about a mile or less back to the Kellogg Center.

AERGC is an all volunteer operated organization. Modest member dues defray costs with the production of our quarterly newsletter, our online forum and administration of our website. The organization is aimed at supporting educational greenhouse users and the industry involved with institutional greenhouses. Please have a look at our mission statement.

A unique relationship has developed between the AERGC and the greenhouse industry. Being a sponsor of the AERGC's Annual Meeting is mutually beneficial.
