About this event
We here in St. Louis are ecstatic to welcome you this summer for the annual AERGC conference! From August 3-6, we will be touring, talking, and learning from facilities across the city. Your cohosts are Chani (Hammy) Sorkin of Seed St. Louis, Kevin Reilly of Danforth Plant Science Center, Ben Wolf of WashU, and Derek Lyle of Missouri Botanical Garden.
On Monday, August 3, we’ll welcome you at our hotel and convention center in the middle of WashU’s campus (a 20 minute drive from the airport, and a 10 minute walk from the MetroLink train station). Most of the day on Tuesday will be spent at the Missouri Botanical Gardens, touring their greenhouses and gardens! There will be time to free roam the dozens of acres and attend industry talks. We will end the day touring the WashU greenhouses and growth chambers, then dinner on your own. But don’t worry – I’ve got a list of recommended restaurants in the area to suit your tastes! On Wednesday, we will be touring with and learning from the incredible team at the Danforth Plant Science Center. A mix of tours, talks, and networking will pique the interest of all of you, whether you’re a plant nerd, greenhouse/growth chamber geek, or science dork. That evening we will make our way to the Saint Louis University Teaching Garden and Orchard, where we’ll pick fresh fruit to snack on, veggies to roast over the fire, and herbs for our drinks. Let’s also light a bonfire! Then, my least favorite day since it’s the day we say goodbye, but also my favorite because of the plant swap: Thursday morning we’ll meet at the Knight Center to hear travel grant talks and the business meeting. I know your time is very valuable, but for those able to stay we are planning bonus tours and events on Thursday and Friday.
While our tours are out and about around the metropolitan area, our convention center and hotel is in a great central location! WashU’s campus is within walking distance to multiple areas with restaurants, shops, bars, and librar
